Desert Botanical Garden

To avoid the crowds, plan to arrive in the morning – according to past visitors, the garden starts to get busy around 11 a.m. Remember to those not native to AZ, it can get warm! Keep this in mind when planning outdoor activities!

Musical Instrument Museum

The galleries are typically busiest from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Weekdays tend to be less busy than weekends. Most guests' visits last around three hours. General admission: $20 for adults, $15 for teens (ages 13–19), $10 for children (ages 4–12), and free for children 3 and under.

The Japanese Friendship Garden of Phoenix

General admission is $14 for adults, $12 for seniors, $11 for students and military, and $11 for youth ages 7–17. Children ages 0–6 are free. The garden has a wheelchair accessible entrance, parking lot, and restroom.

Papago Park

The trails in Papago Park are open from 5 AM–11 PM, and admission is free. Some recommend wearing shoes with good grip for the hike to Hole in the Rock, as the rocks can be slippery.


Please remember to bring lots of water if you plan to hike!

Camelback Mountain

Location: Camelback Mountain is the highest point in the Phoenix Mountain range at 2,704 ft.

Trails: The Cholla Trail is a popular, but challenging hike that involves a steady climb of 1.6 miles. The trails offer little shade, so you should bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat.

Shoes: Wear sturdy shoes with good grip and traction for walking over uneven surfaces.

Water: Bring plenty of water, as you'll need more than you usually would for a hike.

Piestewa Peak Trailhead

Trails: There are multiple trails, including the Piestewa Nature Trail, which is a loop trail that's moderately difficult and rocky, and the Dreamy Draw Loop Trail, which is also moderately challenging. Please bring plenty of water, especially on hot days.
